The flame sensor functions as a low-impedance resistor with a positive temperature coefficient, the resistance of which varies with heating (the presence of flame). Signals are sent to the control unit and processed by it. The flame sensor monitors the presence of the flame as long as the heater is on.

Flame sensor diagnostics.

Note: Checking the resistance of the flame sensor (petrol heater only). Measuring resistance with a not sufficiently accurate multimeter may be the cause of a misdiagnosis. As a sample, you can use a known good flame detector. When checking a multimeter at the flame sensor at a temperature, the electrical parameters should lie within the following limits:

Replacing the flame sensor (only for petrol modification).

SUITABLE FOR 12-24V:

Webasto Air top 2000 12V
Webasto Air top 2000 24V
Webasto Air top 2000S 12V
Webasto Air top 2000S 24V

Dismantling:

Remove the heater.
Disassemble the housing
Remove the control unit.
Remove the air blower.
Unscrew the two screws and remove the pressure plate.
Press the rubber harness seal out of the heat exchanger.
Carefully bend the retaining bracket and pull out the flame sensor from the burner.
Dispose of the flame sensor.
To work with the removed components.

Installation:

ATTENTION! The flame sensor cable should be located under the fuel pipe.

Start the flame sensor under the fuel tube, insert the plug into the hole. heat exchanger, insert cable gland into place.
Hold the cable with protective insulation under the bracket and install the flame sensor in the burner.
Bend the locking bracket.
Secure the plate with screws.
Tighten the screws from 6 ± 0.6 nm.
Tighten the flame sensor cable.
Install the supercharger.
Install the control unit.
Assemble the hull.
Install the heater.
